Tennis/Golfers Elbow

Pain and Symptoms of Tennis/Golfers Elbow?
Does your elbow hurt when you pick up a gallon of milk? Do you have knee dropping pain after a firm handshake? When you wake up in the middle of the night is your arm aching like tooth ache? If so, you may have either golfer’s or tennis elbow, a common injury affecting the elbow. Both are just as painful and debilitating; and in significant cases, the pain can travel down the arm and into the wrist.

Causes of Tennis/Golfers Elbow
Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow are both inflammatory conditions resulting from strained tendons that control wrist movements. When overworked, these tendons can tear and fray like an old rope. In an attempt to heal, scar tissue forms, further weakening and inflaming the condition. In more persistent cases, bone deposits called “bone spurs” can form within the tendons. Unfortunately bone spurring only adds to more pain, weakness and inflammation to the area. Despite their names, Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow generally develop gradually, with no apparent cause. However certain risk factors for the condition are traumatic injuries or repetitive movements like lifting, hammering, gripping, or drilling.
The Four Phase Approach to Your Care

EXAMINATION: At Lakes Region Chiropractic, we will get to know you and how and when your pain started. We will perform a detailed exam of your muscles, joints, nerves, and posture. Our exam will help us determine the safest most effective approach to care.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE: Myofascial Release is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that effectively breaks down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed instruments to effectively treat chronic inflammation.

EXERCISES: Exercises are unique to your specific condition and comfort level. Our modernized equipment accelerates muscle stretch and strength. We also prescribe at home exercises as a practical and easy way to improve your condition.

LASER THERAPY: Laser therapy is a safe, painless way to accelerate healing and reduce inflammation. The device generates infrared laser that can penetrate deep into the elbow allowing the tissue to heal twice as fast.
